Cap de Formentor is one of the most spectacular areas of Pollensa. This headland is located on the northernmost point of Mallorca. Its highest point, Fumat, is 384m above sea level. It has many associated bays, including Cala Fiquera, Cala Murta and Cala Pi de la Posada.
The 13.5 km road which runs from Port de Pollença to Cap de Formentor was built by the Italian engineer Antonio Parietti. It ends at the Lighthouse, which was built in 1863, and from where on a clear day you can see Menorca Island. When the poet Miquel i Llobera, who owned the Cap de Formentor peninsula, died, it was divided into lots and sold.
In 1928 Adan Diehl, a native Argentinian, bought the land and decided to build the Hotel Formentor at Formentor beach. This is one of the oldest established hotels on Mallorca.
Apart from visiting the beach, you can also enjoy excellent trekking activities to really enjoy the area's landscapes and the nature of this magnificent place. Trips by catamaran can also be taken to visit Formentor.
